Ready for a New Chapter in Life

Thanks to the work of Housing 1000 partners, Richard will be moving into his new place this week! When he stayed at the cold weather shelter armory this past winter, the only thing that kept him going was the hope that he would be housed through Housing 1000. Now it’s finally going to happen. He has endured a lot of hardships during his years of homelessness, everything from not knowing where his next meal would come from to being harassed by the police for sleeping outside on the streets. But fortunately that chapter will soon come to an end….

Anything Can Happen Now

After many years of homelessness, Darius is finally in a place of his own. He was so dedicated to turning his life around and getting off the streets that for two months, he would get up every morning at 4am and take 3 buses so he could be in Sunnyvale bright and early to work for the Downtown Streets Team. It was while he was working with Downtown Streets Team that he learned a Case Manager was looking for him to enroll him in the Housing 1000 program.
